      Old Man

I once met an old man
      and he said to me,
      "Whatever you can
      boy you better be.

Because it won't be too long
until you lay your body down,
      and you can't be nothin'
      once you're in the ground.

If you want to love somebody
      you better love them today.
boy it won't be much longer
time will take it all away.

And it won't be too long
until you lay your body down,
and you can't love no one
      once you're in the ground."

Yes, I once met an old man.
      The old man is gone,
      but he left me something.
      He left me this song.

      One For You

Put your heart into the notion
of a love big as an ocean.
Tell your mind to just imagine
dreams that really can come true.

Tell your arms they can embrace me,
that no other will replace me,
      and the lover they're embracing
is the only one for you.

Tell your heart it can remember
      summer love in cold December.
Tell yourself I do these things
and truly feel this love for you.

      Tell your lips
      they can kiss my lips.
Tell your face now it can smile it's
      what happy faces do.

      Only Dreams

      Dream only the dreams
      you want to come true.
      Dream them with someone
      who's dreaming of you.

When you wake in the morning
      then walk hand in hand,
      and make them come true
      if you possibly can.

      On The Stage

      He belongs on the stage,
you know he's the rage where he is.
You feel the pain as his voice gently cries,
but the tears in his eyes aren't his.

      He sings of a lover
who is now with another, somewhere.
      He sings about loosin',
all about blues 'n' you know he isn't there.

      Interlude: (Straight Time)

      You feel the background drummin',
yea, the wire is softly hummin',
and the drummer takes you higher
      on the snare.

      Out To The Out House

Oh my baby went out to the out house,
oh she went out for to pee.

Oh my baby fell out of the out house,
oh she fell out on her knee.

Oh my baby fell out of the out house,
oh she fell out on the trunk of a tree.

Oh my baby fell out of the out house,
oh she fell out on a dog going to pee.

Thank you for keeping my thoughts alive.

An astute writer once advised all readers: "If you are reading and come upon a word which you do not know the meaning of, immediately, go to the dictionary and find out. Else you might well miss the single most important message in the book!"

I believe this advice could indeed apply to every aspect of our lives.
